"Man, this is so whack!" he told himself. He could hear the monitor reading his vital signs on his uniform and see through the visor that he was indeed walking in the middle of a desert. But with no one answering his calls on his communication device, he kept wondering if this was just a bad dream. He couldn't remember how he got there, between the now and the back then at the station, there was a blackout.
